Here’s what happened when RealVNC sponsored CUAFC in the 150th Varsity match.
The men’s and women’s CUAFC teams took the field in the 150th Varsity match against Oxford wearing a special kit, featuring the RealVNC logo. RealVNC staff also supported them from the stands, for what was a very exciting evening at the Abbey Stadium in Cambridge.
As the excitement grew during the ladies’ game, the sunny evening weather made room for cold rain. It only stopped to be replaced by a cold night. That didn’t matter, though, as the atmosphere was as warm as it could be, both on the pitch and in the stands, as you can see in the images below.
CUAFC Women’s Team: A Fabulous Win
The Women’s Blues were the first to play. And they made sure that there would be no doubt as to who would be the winners. And this, despite Oxford having their chances to score.
Ella O’Connell scored the first goal for Cambridge after 9 minutes, with the second one coming from Allie Rennie in the 38th minute.
It would be 2-0 at the break, with player of the match Allie Rennie setting the final score of 3-0 just after the hour mark.
An emphatic victory from Cambridge in the women’s Varsity Football match.
CUAFC Men’s Team Lose an Exciting Contest on Penalties
The men’s team didn’t start the game as well as the women’s one, conceding a goal just three minutes in. Oxford could have added to that in the first half, with Cambridge working hard to equalize.
Their performance was much better in the second half, with captain Cai La Trobe-Roberts scoring the equalizer. Some other opportunities followed, but neither of the sides managed to get a winner in regular time.
It went to penalties, where Oxford won.
We’re Proud of You!
RealVNC, as CUAFC sponsors for the 2024 Varsity Game, would like to congratulate the women’s team on a fantastic win, and both the men’s and women’s teams on their performances. It’s been a privilege to sponsor a club that holds such a valuable place in football history.
